Convert CM Synergy archive to free source control

Due to the reduction and cost savings, our organization is moving from CM / Telogic / Rational Synergy to free tools (most likely SVN). Do I need to transfer history and branch information from Synergy to a free tool?

I don’t know how to create the source CM Synergy base in another SCM, which means the usual “general import” tactic:

  • Select some important baselines / tags / branches and download them one by one to your hard drive.
  • for each baseline, use this image as a source for copying files to the working directory of the target SCM (SVN or Git, Git can handle this scenario very easily ).
  • commit, then repeat for the next baseline / label / branch

But this means that you will lose some history and some metadata along the way.

Something is happening regarding CM / Synergy to convert git to github: https://github.com/emanuelez/PySynergy
