SQL Server vs MySQL: CONTAINS (*, 'FORMSOF (THESAURUS, word)')

I am in shock.

I spent 3-4 days figuring out how I could implement the output (and search for synonyms) in mysql, when I see the query in SQL Server is incredibly simple:

Select * from tab where CONTAINS(*,'FORMSOF(THESAURUS,word)')

Is it possible on MySql there is nothing like this?

No, MySQL does not support mapping to a user-provided thesaurus.

You can use an external FULLTEXT engine, such as Sphinx, which supports morphological rules, has several stem and thesauruses that are built-in and allow plug-ins.
