Class Diagram Tools

Please suggest tools for creating class diagrams with the following criteria:

  • It must be platform independent because I use Linux and it is expected that the file will be edited by other team members using Windows / Mac
  • Free, because there is no such free tool, we have to create one
  • It would be nice if you could include a screenshot of the class diagram, just to make sure that the tool is actually used to create class diagrams, and not just for any other types of diagrams.

In addition, please offer only the tools that you used.

UPDATE: DO NOT include those UML diagram tools that cannot create class diagrams.

I am using GenMyModel , first released in 2013. This is a real UML fashion designer, not a drawing tool. Your diagrams are UML compatible, generate code, and can be exported as UML / XMI files. This is a website and is free to meet your criteria.

I used Poseidon UML Community Edition , it is platform independent and creates thin and clean diagrams. Here are some screenshots here .

Some time ago I used DIA - free and platform independent. That was good. Now I use Enterprise Architect , but it's not free.

Umbrello UML Modeller is a unified modeling language diagram program for KDE. UML allows you to create diagrams of software and other systems in a standard format. Our guide provides a good introduction to Umbrello and UML modeling. http://uml.sourceforge.net/

I have used Enterprise Architect in the past - not for free, but not too expensive, and it creates good diagrams.

I used Poseidon UML and Enterprise Architect and I must say that I prefer Poseidon, but I was not completely satisfied with any of them. I am currently creating a free service with an even clearer interface, will notify you when done.

Since all these tools do not have a check function, their results are just drawings, and there is no better tool for creating beautiful drawings, this is a piece of paper and a pen. After that, you can scan your charts and paste them into your wiki team.
