When was the first version of Hadoop released?

When was the first public release of Hadoop released? Any supporting links?
Edit I had to be more clear - I ask this question because the Wikipedia article, the best source I could find on Hadoop, was not clear when the program was first available to the public.

A trivial way to find the answer is to look at http://hadoop.apache.org/mapreduce/releases.html , based on which the earliest version is September 4, 2007.
