How to develop a pdf reader in android

we desperately want to develop a PDF reader. We searched for api, but got java apis that were written using applets and swings.how we can run this on android.Or can anyone suggest any pdf reader api for android.we are stuck in this and cannot go forward to complete our app.if someone has the source code for this, please share. Any help is greatly appreciated.
