Data Aging Methods

I am looking for information on how to put data in db, usually related to Oracle and Sql Server, but any database would be good. Any examples or books containing examples of how the methods would be cool.

In Oracle, partitioning is very useful for implementing lifecycle management of information; it allows you to manage the disk array of data and store the latest, most accessible data for faster storage and older data, in most cases that are less often accessed to cheaper storage . IF this is what you are trying to do, take a look at the section. In 11g: partitioning intervals, you need to pre-configure partitions; partitions are now created as needed and referentially split. It is also a performance accelerator because it is now easier to make partitioning using PQ. It also saves space because redundant key information is now in the section definition.
