How to update forked repo using SourceTree?

I am using SourceTree (with BitBucket) to manage my code. I forked the repo and the parent repo was updated.

How to use SourceTree to combine upstream code into my forked repo?

First set up the parent repo:

  • Open your forked repo in SourceTree.
  • Select RepositoryRepository Settings ... in the menu (or press , ).
  • In the Uninstall panel, click Add .
  • Enter any name ( often upstream or master ) and URL / path to the parent repo.
  • Click OK, then OK.

Now to update:

  • Select Extrude on the toolbar.
  • In the pull out from the drop-down list, switch from the plug to the repo you just added.
  • Click OK.
  • (Not necessary). Once you pull, you can push any new content to the server.
