How to play avi file in video tag?

I am wondering if it is possible to make the browser play the AVI file in the video tag.

Everything I found on the Internet talking about this is focused on the MP4 and Ogg formats, but no one talks about the AVI format.

The only solution I found was to reset the video tag and play the video using JW Player.

Only DivX web player can transfer avi files. in fact, theres a plug in for vlc for the avi file stream as well, but its an error.

Sometimes it's a pain in the ass to get a solid response. its one of the big sucks on the internet.

 <object id="ie_plugin" classid="clsid:67DABFBF-D0AB-41fa-9C46-CC0F21721616" width="660" height="300" codebase="http://go.divx.com/plugin/DivXBrowserPlugin.cab"> <param name="custommode" value="stage6" /> <param name="autoPlay" value="false" /> <param name="src" value="link-to-avi" /> <param name="bannerEnabled" value="false" /> <embed id="np_plugin" type="video/divx" src="link-to-avi" custommode="stage6" width="660" height="300" autoPlay="false" bannerEnabled="false" pluginspage="http://go.divx.com/plugin/download/"> </embed> </object>

notice where it says β€œlink-to-avi” twice :)

Today there are excellent approaches to solving this issue. One of them is the fluent-ffmpeg module found on npm.

This requires a previous installation of FFMPEG

Support for avi is not direct. To serve your html you need to create a server with node.
