When do we need a fake preference?

I try to bow my head to constancy when it comes to Android settings. There the attribute is permanent, which can be true or false. If true, preference is given to sharing preferences. How can preference be used if it is not constant?

You can (ab-) use Preferences as menu items (make them available to trigger some other actions) or display some information, for example. application version, etc.

In this case, you do not want them to be stored in the XML file.
