Creating a text / code editor from scratch

Question

I need help finding links in building a complex text / code editor, and not just that you can only write and read plain text. In fact, I am in a text editor with line numbers displayed on the side and code highlighting and vocabulary. Simply put, like Notepad + or Dreamweaver style text / code editor. And I want to build it in C #.

I will not ask for codes exactly, but some samples will really help. Something on which I can base my work, concepts, etc. I just need to start something. Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much.
