Delete file / folder from SVN via Tortoise: how?

I have some code projects in separate folders in the svn repository.

Now I have some problems with deleting files: in most cases everything goes well, but sometimes when I delete a file or folder from the disk, the verification process gives me all possible errors.

So, I was wondering: what is the way to delete folders under svn?

I just delete them in explorer and then fix the main folder, due to the fact that I need to right-click on the folder, and then?

It seems like a trivial question, but deleting files gives me so many problems with svn (for the rest I am very pleased with it).

Right-click the file / folder โ†’ TortoiseSVN โ†’ Delete.

And then lock.

Officially. you should use the "TortoiseSVN-> Delete" context menu for all files and folders in your working copy.

In fact, TortoiseSVN also supports direct FileSystem deletions, but you must check the box manually in the commit dialog. Textstatus will show โ€œmissingโ€, not โ€œdeletedโ€, which will be displayed if you delete directories / files with the โ€œDeleteโ€ command.

Note that svn-commandline only supports the โ€œofficialโ€ way using svn delete or svn rm

Also note that directories will not be deleted from your working copy, but folders will be marked as deleted until you commit the deletion. This is why you cannot add a file or a new folder with the same name. You must commit the deletion first.

I am developing on a local Windows host with Tortoise SVN and I have never had problems deleting files / folders from SVN. I simply delete the files from the local copy by sending them to the trash before starting the commit. Just be careful not to delete (hidden by default) .svn folders either! They must be stored during fixation.
