Can I use active federation with the Azure Access Control Service?

Windows Azure Access Control Service (ACS) provides federated authentication, but all the examples I saw were passive federation (browser applications that authenticate through the HTTP redirection sequence and HTTP message scripts).

Does ACS support active federation ?

In other words: suppose we have a rich client, such as a WPF or Silverlight application that accesses a web service. Can ACS be used as STS in this scenario?

Yes it is possible. If you check out the examples in the excellent Identity tutorial kit or at acs.codeplex.com, you are interested in looking at โ€œweb servicesโ€ rather than websites.
