Does the OpenFire or XMPP protocol support message notification (expected, sent, read), e.g. BBM (Blackberry Messenger)

I am a newbie and need help.

Currently, I am participating in a project where you want to create a chat application (on the server side and on the client side). After further study, I was eventually interested in XMPP.

For the XMPP server, I was interested in Openfire, which supports the XMPP protocol. The unanswered question is whether Openfire can be expanded to the needs of Message Notification, which is a feature of Blackberry Messenger that can determine if a message is SENT, DELIVERED or READ by the client (user).

Can anybody help me?

As the (almost!) Repeating branch is mentioned, this question seems to be about XEP-0184.
