Gzipping content at Akamai

I have several files that are submitted through a content delivery network. These files do not load when working with CDN servers. I was wondering if I have gzip content on my servers, will Akamai get gzipped content first and then serve gzipped content as soon as it stores my content on its servers?

Akamai can receive content from your source without gzip, and then serve the content as gzipped at their end. They will store the contents unpacked in a cache, and then compress on the fly for those browsers that support it.

I can’t find the reason why Gzip compression settings are always not beneficial for your end user. You can do this by setting the latest acceleration on miles always at Akamai Gzip settings in Akamai
