Android Eclipse DDMS - How to delete a directory on a device?

Using DDMS Perspective in Eclipse, can you delete directories on the phone? You can definitely select and delete files, but I cannot delete any directories. The only way to find out how to do this on the command line:

C:\>adb shell $ rmdir /mnt/sdcard/Android/data/mydirectory/

I do not know if the android plugin supports the option you are looking for. But I can say that this also depends on the device. For example, on root phones you can use the HierarchyViewer, as well as on the emulator, but this tool will not work with any root devices.

You should think that perhaps you cannot delete because your phone is not rooted. This applies to internal storage, and for an external device, you should consider whether your phone is connected to a computer with charging only mode or with disk storage mode. If you connect only with the payment mode, there may not be an option to delete files ...

Again I do not have the correct answer, but I have given you some tips that you should definitely consider.

  • Use "adb shell% your device%", go to the folder you want to delete, and
  • use 'rmdir% folder name%' (make sure the folder is empty)
