EDI ISA and GS ID Generation

My question may sound very newbie. I am new to EDI because I have to work with it for the first time.

We use the YRC trading partner profile to obtain EDI data.

They request an ISA receiver identifier and qualifier

Product Identifier and Qualifier

GS test

GS Prod ID

After a thorough google search, I found that the DUNS identifier can be used as the ISA receiver identifier, and 01 can be its qualifier. But nothing was found about the PROD ID, TEST IDs, and PROD IDs.

See the URL of the PDF file http://www.yrc.com/files/pdf/820_tpp.pdf

My request is how to identify or generate the ISA PROD ID and its classifier and GS TEST AND PROD ID.

On google during a search, I found that people are asking where to find ISA and GS, but there is no specific solution to run EDI.

If I do not want to use the DUNS number as an ISA identifier, then how to create an ISA identifier and its qualifier.

Please, help. This can be useful for me and any new programmer working on EDI for the first time.

Additional information needed to respond to my request:

YRC Freight supports versions 3050, 3070, 4010, 4020 and 4030. YRC Freight provides direct connections via AS1 (SMTP), AS2 (HTTP) or FTP

Several variants. Look at the qualifiers that you can use, and you get an idea of what you can use as an identifier. For example, phone number, GLN, DUNS.

Usually the identifier in GS is the same as in ISA. Often use the same identifier in production and testing (but do not worry about the lack of test messages in the production process and vice versa).

Many of the things in the ISA and GS headers are used to route data. ISA is a shell for external use, which contains high-level information about the general exchange and all documents included in it. Inside this envelope there can be many groups of different types of documents.

GS / group is an envelope that can contain several transactions (ST), that is, several purchase orders, or in the case of YRC, possibly several 204 load tenders.

ISA usually sends data to your system, and then you will use GS in your system to determine which process should start depending on who sent the data, what types of transactions it contains, etc.

So, with regard to identifiers, if you want to use separate test identifiers to help you determine how to process the data, you can use the test identifier, and then when you are live, you can switch to the product I AM. It is basically up to you to choose what works best in your case.

Many times identical identifiers are used for testing, as in production. Many other times, identical identifiers are used, but they will have a T at the end for the test. This is what I would like to do in your case. If your production ID is 00000112 (or something similar), use 00000112T for testing.

The DUNS number can be used as your identifier with the right qualifier, which tells the other side that it is the number that you used as your identifier. Try talking to get an EDI consultation from one of the companies that can help you with this task. One company you can look at is Amosoft EDI Services ( www.amosoft.com ), they can help you. Good luck
