Delete file from Perforce control without deleting from workspace?

Question

Is there a way to delete files / directories from a Perforce control without deleting the file from the client workspace?

I am indifferent to what happens to the / dirs files in the repository, I want to make sure that they are NOT deleted from my local workspace.

Try

p4 delete -k <file> 

It will update the server, but will not touch the workspace.

If you are not connected to a server that supports the -k switch in the delete command, you can create a new workspace with a different root, delete files from it, and return to the original workspace. Since the new workspace has a different root, the files in the original workspace will not be affected.

You can snooze files and then delete the “pending files” perforce, your local files must be intact.
