Display a diagram on a layer in Photoshop

This should be a very empty question, but through googling I get different answers.

I just want that through the layers panel, when I click on any layer, I need to select a selection scheme between all layers, which layer is selected.

I used several Adobe fireworks, and in it I can easily see the selected layer by simply clicking on it.

You can do this with ctrl + click on the layer thumbnail that I selected below ( cmd + click on Mac)

Highlighted area: layer thumbnail

Do not click on the name of the layer, it will select the layer, but it will not show you the outline. Before clicking, the cursor should be a hand with a path.

Hope this helps.

In Windows Photoshop cs5.

View->Show->Layer Edges

When you select a layer, it will now show the edges in blue. You can select multiple layers to see multiple paths.

Also slightly off topic, but if you want to click directly on the canvas, select an element similar to how Fireworks works. You can select the move tool and click “ Auto Select ” at the top of the screen. Change the drop-down list to " Layer " instead of " Group " if you want to select individual layers.

You can ctrl + click the layer to get it. This can help visualize the entire opaque area / coverage area. (note that pixels with low opacity may not be displayed)

Only for shapes, a good trick you can do when you see the outline of a shape is pressing Ctrl + Enter (if you don't see it, Ctrl + H will show it). For Mac, the shortcut is Cmd + Enter.
