Use Case for FacesConverter

As referenced in the previous question , why does the @PostConstruct method not work?

I got the best result before, in which the bean was created, but with default values and did not get URL parameters in time, so some fields were filled and some were not.

If my Java code is unclear, let me know how this is unclear. For example, I do not know how to parse strings in Integer better. See comments here .

I believe that getter / setter methods that take URL parameters as method arguments are called after @PostConstruct, which results in a bean in an undefined state. The bean was created, but the fields were not initialized with the values from the URL parameters. This does not mean that I know to determine whether the bean was initialized or not with the URL parameters.

I used to have a conclusion where it was clearer, but at the moment I can only generate this error.

For practical purposes, I just left and moved the contents of the @PostConstruct method to Detail.setId (String), which at least works. Looking at the oracle docs , I just don’t see it being directly considered, however, the implication I draw from these documents is to use the Converter, which was also proposed earlier.

I'm more curious than actually implementing the converter, as it just seems like a pretty complicated way to do a simple thing. However, does the β€œlogic” in @PostConstruct rightly belong to the converter?

The above code is not the one I use, it is just for this question, so the "logic" does not work in the @PostConstruct method, but instead of the setId () method.

Trying to use @PostConstruct was pointless, because of what I am compiling, this method is executed before the CDI magic, where to read the parameters.

Ooops, then the specification should be wrong :) Mate, your code looks messy, and the same could be true for your project, installation?
