Windows VBA Authentication for SharePoint

I have a VBA project that loads data from an Excel spreadsheet into an Access database stored in SharePoint. Everything was fine until I upgraded to Windows 7. Windows 7 does not automatically transfer Windows authentication to SharePoint when accessing this path. Now my project will not update my db. How can I get a VBA project to transfer this information to SharePoint? I searched for 2 days and I did not find anything useful.

Today I faced the same problem. The workaround that I came up with, which I would like to replace, is to force Windows Explorer to open the sharepoint folder, which launches the authentication request to the user. Obviously, there are many problems with this solution.
