The mc:Ignorable contains mc:Ignorable definitions that are β€œignored” by the xaml processor.

This allows you to specify information used by the designer at design time, which is ignored at run time. In your case, you can specify DesignHeight and DesignWidth , which are not β€œreal” properties in Window , but work in the designer to provide default development time.

mc:Ignorable="d" sets the prefix d: as a label for the attributes used in the design. MSDN Details: mc:Ignorable Attribute

d:DesignHeight="500" and d:DesignWidth="300" use the d: prefix, which makes them available only during development - they are ignored after the standard compilation of the program.

This is a predefined namespace in WPF that will be used during development of r, but will be ignored during actual compilation and execution. It will display your development time options, but will not affect the actual layout.
