Opening in a new tab: how does Bing do it? (IE9)

Opening target ="_blank" links in a new tab or new window is based on user settings, and when I click on the target ="_blank" link, it opens in a new window (IE9). However, in Bing, when you click "see full size image" it opens in a new tab! (you can check it now)

How do they do it?

I have IE 9.0.8112.16421

It opens links on the next tab.

 <A href="http://msn.com" target="_blank">link</A> <A href="http://jsfiddle.net/img/logo.png" target="_blank">image</A> <span onclick="window.open('http://msn.com', 'openWindow', 'top=0, left=10, width = 500, height = 500,resizable=yes, location=yes, toolbar=yes, status=yes')" style="text-decoration:underline;color:blue;cursor:pointer;">linkJavascript</span>

And only in the third implementation, ONLY with the parameters (Top, Left, Width, etc.) for the window.open javascript function, the link opened in a new window. Demo

I think this article can help you configure your IE9 and solve this problem. How to open only links on new tabs?

There is an alternative object called "_tab":

 <a target="_tab" .. >

I don't know if this overrides your settings or anything else, but use the IE tools to learn what is going on there. (Perhaps IE has a check item context menu option?
