Eclipse does not start because `reload maven project has encountered a problem m`

When I try to start Eclipse Luna on CentOS 7, I get the following dialog box:

How can I solve this problem and run eclipse?

I removed .metada from the workspace and re-hosted maven projects as a quick and dirty solution. You lose the Eclipse settings, you can try playing with metadata.

Instead of deleting the entire .metadata folder, simply delete the .metadata / .plugins / org.eclipse.e4.workbench / workbench.xmi file "You need to exit eclipse first, then delete this file and run the eclipse again.

The error will disappear.

For me, just removing the entire <persistedState /> in

 <workspace folder>/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.e4.workbench/workbench.xmi
