Chrome window types. What are they worth?

The chrome.windows API reports 5 types of windows: "normal", "pop-up", "panel", "application", "shell".

  • Standard windows are standard tabbed windows;
  • Pop-ups are 1) stand-alone windows with applications (this function is currently available on Windows and Linux), 2) chrome devtools if its window is opened separately;

But what are the other 3 types of windows? The official API provides very little information about this.

  • The application was used as an application mode window (started with --app=http://... ) and is now replaced by a popup type. Based on this and this .

  • Shell I have money for my own system dialogs (printing using Ctrl+Shift+P ), but I can’t say for sure.

  • The panel is a few quick, buggy, always on the upper windows that dock near the tray area. You need to enable those who have the --enable-panels flag and they look like this on Windows:
