How to name image files for iPad 3

As I understand it, in iOS we can name our file for displaying the retina as name@2x.png.

How to name a file for iPad 3

ipad.png - iPad, iPad 2

ipad@2x.png - iPad 3

Is it correct?

Thanks!

Yes, that's right.

Any image to display Retina must have " @2x " as part of the file name.

And if you have images other than the iPhone and iPad (as iBrad mentions), you can add the differences "~ ipad" or "~ iphone" to the name. See the “Upgrading Image Resource Files” section of this Apple documentation .

Apple has several “Custom Tips for Creating Icons and Images” that you can view for more details, including a section called Tips for Creating Great Images for Retina Display.

Also, here is a related question that talks about how to adapt your images to display the retina.
