RSS Auto Open

I have been a web designer for years, but this is my first transition to XML. I created an RSS feed and I can’t figure out how to make the browser β€œdetect” my feed and display a small RSS icon in the address bar. This website: http://www.aurorafxstudios.com/blog , and my RSS feed: http://www.aurorafxstudios.com/blog/rss.php ... any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The "official" version of the automatic feed detection mechanism can be found at http://www.rssboard.org/rss-autodiscovery .

Assuming you posted one or more published links (the MIME type depends on the feed format):

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="human-readable label" href="http://www.aurorafxstudios.com/blog/rss.php" />

You can check its availability in several ways. For example, in IE 9, you can press Alt + T (Tools) and confirm that the discovery link is listed in the Channel Select menu.

Many users of your feed are going to receive it through a feed reader, most of which will accept the URL of your website and find the feeds that you publish through the discovery link, and then pass them to the end user. You might want to use a feed reader to Check if discovery links are working.

As long as you follow the specification, I will not worry about the variety of behavior that you will see in different browsers.

Add the following to your 'head' tag:

 <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Name of Your Feed" href="http://www.aurorafxstudios.com/blog.xml" />
