VSIX project template does not exist

Question

I have VS2010 with SP1 installed on it. However, I am not getting the VSIX project template in the New Project dialog box.

I also asked the following question, but no luck

Cannot find VSIX Project Type in VS 2010

Any clues?

Make sure you install the Visual Studio SP1 SDK - available here .

This has matching patterns you are looking for.

EDIT: Check out <drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\VSSDK\ - that where (I think) extensions should have been installed. You should see several subdirectories. See if this matches your installation:

• ProjectTemplates
  • CSharp
    • VSIXProject.zip

If this file is missing, it suggests that something went wrong with your SDK installation.
