As far as I know, there is no common API for Android FM radio, because each vendor uses its own Owen chipset. Worst of all, the latest Google phone comes without any radio, which offers few opportunities for Android to have its own FM radio API.
The only project that manages to come close to supporting all devices is Spirit FM , which, unfortunately, is available as an application and does not offer an open API, but you can try to establish cooperation if you turn to them.
Another future option might be the Euro Chip, which pushes the European Broadcasting Union , which will undoubtedly have a standard API. But it will take quite some time until it becomes widespread in the market, if it ever succeeds.
