Email Special Distribution

To this site , I found that you can distribute email:

With Ad Hoc distribution, you can share your application with up to 100 other users of iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Through e-mail or sending it to the server, users can download and install your application.

I cannot find any instructions on how to do this. Since it says “by email or by sending it to the server”, I expect you to be able to send an email with the necessary files attached without using the server. Is it possible?

I tried writing myself .ipa, which is the result of archiving the application in Xcode, but it says:

Mail cannot open this application.

How can I distribute the application by email if the Mail application does not know what to do with it?

You need to download the IPA file through iTunes.

If you have the correct device certificates when you created the IPA, you should be able to drag and drop the IPA to the connected device in iTunes.
