Configuring Windows 7 for LAMP Development

I am a .Net guy who has just been given a LAMP-based project (where P = PHP) without the no option. I am going to build this on a machine with Windows 7 (64), but it is designed for a clean LAMP platform.

I'm not too worried about PHP or mySQL, I have enough to get through, but Linux and Apache can also be NASA Curiosity platforms.

In a production environment, I’m going to mainly rely on Host to configure L and A with the hope that I can pretty much synchronize my M and P files, figure out how to make a small configuration for the application and go. Maybe optimistic, but I I'll start there ;-)

At the moment, questions

  • What is the most reliable way to set up the development of LAMP on a W7 machine in order to ensure a relatively smooth transition to production?

  • any reasonable way to do this without giving up my Visual Studio protective blanket?

  • Any suggestions on going through the Internet?

Thanks!

Both of these can provide you with LAMP and LAMPP (php / perl) windows7 environments.

http://www.ampps.com/ or http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

Both are easy to use and should make your code migration easier.

Why do not you install a free virtual machine and do not install a real LAMP environment, you can access the virtual machine from a Windows environment.

If you create a samba bridge (quite straightforwardly), you can develop your Windows environment and easily deploy it to Linux.

It is actually easy to set up a LAMP environment using a virtual machine, and of course you will find many tutorials to help you complete the setup.
