Get artist name and song from Youtube video by API

I'm wondering if you can get the artist name and song title from a YouTube video using the YouToube API. I think I can just parse the name and then search from the API by the artist (for example: http://www.youtube.com/artist?a=cJmvMpoqHdQ ), but this is not the optimal solution. Is there a more efficient / suitable way to solve this problem?

You can get most of the information by passing the Video id, which is available in the youtube URL. When accessing the url below, you can get the title, artist and more. Just enter the video id in the URL below and you will get a JSON response with all the details.
