What makes an eclipse for RCP different from eclipse classics?

I understand that I need RCP for the eclipse plugin and the development of RCP eclipse. However, since I have some crashes and software installation , I assume that I should use the eclipse classics until the problems are resolved.

What makes an eclipse for RCP different from eclipse classics? I checked the eclipse download page and it seems to me that the classic eclipse has no function, while RCP has a lot.

Are the distinguishing features of only two options? If so, can I load functions / plugins so that I can easily use all the features of RCP in the eclipse classic?

All downloads on the eclipse.org page are only predefined packages of the publicly available Eclipse plugins. Thus, you can always install any plugin into any existing Eclipse installation (in the absence of dependency conflicts). Choosing a package on the download site determines only what is pre-installed (and it is difficult to disable pre-installed functions).

To develop RCP, you need the JDT and PDE functions. The classic and RCP development packages contain them, so it is still your choice.

If you really want a minimalist Eclipse to suit your needs, install the “Runtime Binary Platform” from http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.2.1-201209141800/ , which is the “Empty” Eclipse . Then install only the plugins you have selected using the update manager.
