Automatic trimming rpart ?

The decision tree created by rpart is much larger than Oracle Data Mining, which has automatic pruning.

No, but the default values for the fit function may stop the separation "earlier" (for some definition of "early").

See the ?rpart.control options for options that you can configure. In particular, see the minsplit and minbucket in this help file. These are stopping rules that prevent node separation if these conditions are not met.

You will most likely need to prune the tree using prune() to some optimal value for the cost complexity parameter.
