Playframework plugin not working in IntelliJ IDEA 12

I just downloaded and installed IntelliJ IDEA 12 (Ultimate Edition) under Ubuntu with high hopes that I can get cash for integrating IJ with Scala and the Play platform.

I have a fully functional installation of Play on /home/ryan/play-2.0.4 and from the search, it seems that all you need to do is execute the play idea in the playback project on the command line and just open the project in IntelliJ.

However, if I do this: I cannot even verify that the Playframework plugin is even active / working. There is no syntax highlighting in the drop-down configuration files or Play templates; there are no Playframework options in the drop-down menu. If I right-click the project, select "Add platform support ..." and "Play" is not even listed, I cannot just create a new "Play" project from scratch in the IDE (not sure if this is even supported) .

If I click File -> Settings -> Play Configuration , I have a Home and Working directory set to: /home/ryan/play-2.0.4 . I should note that I use Play under Eclipse without any problems (except that there is no integration with Eclipse into the game), so the reason why I give this try in IJ). If I didn’t know anything better: I would declare support for IJ 12 Play as an unsuccessful failure, but, considering all the publications offering to integrate the game 2.0 with IJ 12, β€œvery easy” - maybe something is missing for me?

Most likely, you need to download and / or install Play 2.0 Support plugins + dependencies (most likely, you will need to find it in the Browse repositories section, this is not the same plugin as in the Playframework support !)

I can make sure that I just sit and play with Play 2.0 in Idea 12 with new support, and it works pretty well.

Go to Settings > Plugins and check if you have the latest version of the mentioned plugin, and if it is not blocked by some error (i.e. missing dependency), try to resolve all missing dependencies, restart the IDE, and compile (or run) your applications at least once.

I have not tested it until the end, but I see great progress in support, especially in templates and controllers. The routes file makes it easy to go to the target actions, but, as I see, there is no syntax highlighting in the conf file.

It is currently possible to launch and debug the Play application from the menu.

In general, if you enable the Play plugin, you will definitely see it :)

You do not need to install additional plugins. You only need to run the application once, and then IntelliJ selects everything, etc.
