Play videos on youtube

I was wondering how apps like McTube ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mctube-for-youtube/id559618284?mt=8 ) play YouTube videos. This looks like a custom MPMoviePlayerController , but is it allowed?

I need autoplay, which I could not achieve with UIWebView , so I was wondering.

Some YouTube videos can be played in MPMoviePlayerController - some of them cannot. When you request a video through the YouTube data API ( here ), you will get all types of content available for certain videos, including Flash Player, 3GPP, MP4 (if any), etc. You can use these URLs to download MPMoviePlayerController .

This is great, but, as I said, not all videos are available for implementation in this way. Some videos (mainly those that require advertising) cannot be placed in the built-in controllers.
