How to stop the end of a line in WebStorm

I am trying a WebStorm editor (currently using vim).

And I noticed that I can’t say where the line ends, because you can literally move the cursor outside the line in the code editor.

I find it very frustrating. I use to be able to know for sure where the end of the line was in vi.

Is there a way to make the cursor go to the next line when I get to the end of the line and move to the right?

By default, carriage is not allowed after the end of a line.

If this box has already been checked, it can be disabled in two ways:

  • File> Settings ...> Editor> General > uncheck " Allow carriage after end of line " (in the "Virtual space" section)

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + A or go to Help> Find Action ... :

Enter "Allow Nesting", select the line "Virtual Space: Allow Nesting Numbers after ..." and press the switch button to turn OFF instead. If you cannot see the entire description, you can hover over the line.

Since WebStorm is based on the IntelliJ IDEA platform, this answer is also applicable to WebStorm .

File | Settings (or Preferences on Mac) | Editor | Allow carriage after end of line .
