Ctrl + Space does not work to support content on eclipse

My problem is that the content support window will not appear after pressing Ctrl + Space . I checked my shortcuts and the content support is tied to Ctrl + Space . Sometimes a window automatically pops up, making a suggestion after entering a point, for example, but this will not happen when using a key combination.

Eclipse Version:

Eclipse Java EE IDE for web developers.

Version: Kepler Service Release 1 Build id: 20130919-0819

My OS is Ubuntu 12.04, if that matters.

I managed to fix it. The problem was that ibus was redefining the shortcut, so I removed this shortcut configuration.

Enter ibus in dash: Search for ibus

Then select Keyboard Input Methods . From there, click on the first three dots next to the Enable or Disable text box. The following windows should appear: Shortcuts

If there is anything related to Ctrl + Space , just delete it.

In my case; Window> Settings> Java> Editor> Content Assist> Advanced

Make sure the offer> Template Suggestions, SWT Template Suggestions, Java Suggestions, Content Support Console> Template Suggestions, SWT Template Suggestions, Java Suggestions is selected.

Go to Windows> Preferences> Java> Editor> Content Assistant> Advanced> select only Java. If you select all, then multiple instances of the same instance will be shown in the list of offers. which can be annoying several times.

To enable Ctrl + Space.

  1. Go to Control Panel โ†’ Region and Language โ†’ select the Keyboard and Languages โ€‹โ€‹tab โ†’ โ€œChange Keyboardโ€ button โ†’ select the โ€œGeneralโ€ tab โ†’ In the โ€œInstalled Servicesโ€ section โ†’ Delete all languages โ€‹โ€‹except English (USA). click apply and approx.

  2. Eclipse โ†’ Windows โ†’ Settings โ†’ Java โ†’ Editor โ†’ Content Assistant โ†’ Advanced โ†’ select all sentences like Java and Java.

  3. Eclipse โ†’ Windows โ†’ Settings โ†’ Shared Keys โ†’ Enter Content Assist in the search field on the right โ†’ Select the Content Assist command โ†’ click Restore Default โ†’ Apply โ†’ OK

Now you are ready to use the ctrl + space function to support the content.

Previously, I also came across the same problem: I just followed these steps:

  • Go to Windows โ†’ Settings โ†’ Java โ†’ Editor โ†’ Content Assist โ†’ Advanced โ†’ select all Java and Java Type sentences.

  • Click "Apply" and close it.

  • Restart the eclipse.

This happened to me. What I did was change the workspace folder to another folder and the problem is solved!

This problem happened to me, and none of the stack solutions decided to solve it. I finally realized that some other Windows tasks stole my hotkey. If nothing works, I recommend that you download the free Windows Hotkey Explorer software that reports registered hotkeys.

In my specific situation, I found that ctrl + space was captured by the blackboard cooperate command (an unattractive Java webcast application used by some of my courses).

I closed Eclipse, killed all java processes (including the board). A launched eclipse and my autocomplete are back!

(Note: Hotkey Explorer was an incredible mistake and crashed every time I used it. I was able to get the information I needed before it crashed, although it was useful. Another (shareware) application that I did not use, but noticed Online: Hotkey Commander .

Although I configured the eclipse suggestion options, it did not work for me. In my case, the Ctrl + space bar combination was hacked by another background running process (I ran the AllwaysOnTop utility for Windows). it worked after exiting this process. :)

Ctrl + space did not work in my eclipse. Somehow he disconnected.

I tried many options and no options worked.

Finally it was working

Go to "Settings"> "Java"> "Editor"> "Content Assistant"> field "Automatic activation triggers for Java:". Insert "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz." (note the point after z). This is the best solution and you donโ€™t even need to press Ctrl + Space.
