Before you open a Silverlight project, you need to install the latest version of the Silverlight development environment.

When I open a silverlight project in vs2010, it will show me an error dialog

" You need to install the latest silverlight developer runtime before opening silverlight project"

and tell me the link "go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=146060" , although I already installed this version of silverlight.

Please help me solve this problem.

I had a similar problem. Every time I tried to visit the link and install things, I got the same thing. However, I asked my colleagues, and they suggested that I set things up in the following order:

  • Remove anything that has the name "Silverlight"
  • Install "Silverlight_5_Toolkit_December_2011.msi"
  • Install "silverlight_5_sdk.exe"
  • Install "Silverlight5_Tools_SP1.exe"
  • Install "Silverlight_Developer_x64.exe"

I had all the packages downloaded at my company, so you will need to find them on the Internet yourself. From what I saw, they are all available. The only thing is the installation direction. It helps me.

Good link for the latest version of Silverlight Developer Runtime (Silverlight_Developer_x64.exe or Silverlight_Developer.exe):
http://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/download/details.aspx?id=39597 (French link)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39597 (English link)

The latest Silverlight automatic update simply sets the standard version at run time.

To always find the latest update / installation files for Silverlight Developer Runtime (especially for the 64-bit version), you can click the following link:

Microsoft Silverlight Release History

On this page, click the link for the latest version (usually the first link in Silverlight 5).

Then click on the KB article link for this version (for example, "KB4023307" or regardless of the current KB).

In the KB article, you should see methods for receiving updates. Click the link for the Microsoft update catalog (this is usually method number 2). This will provide a list of relevant entries from the update catalog. Click the Download button for the Security Updates option.

Now you should get a window with a list of boot options. Click the link to download the version of "silverlight_developer_x64_blah ... blah.exe" or any other download you may need.

These are a few steps, but the only way to find reliable loading of the current runtime environment for x64.
