Embedded youtube video with "autoplay = 1". Does he count on looks?

Can I get the youtube embedded video to start automatically using "autoplay = 1" When a user views the embedded video, does it count the number of views?

I tried to check, but had inconclusive results. View embedded videos that do not appear to be sequentially converted to views, even if manual playback is pressed.

My tests were from the same machine and IP, what could be the problem? The browser session does not seem relevant.

There were some discussions on this topic. Here's a thread with some conflicting answers:

Are the views taken into account in the built-in player?

And here's an article on the official answer from Youtube, claiming that autostart views are not taken into account:

Youtube says autorun doesn't count

Here's another one that claims that embedded videos with autorun are not taken into account:

How does watching YouTube video ads work?

(found through this SO answer)

Note 1: Please note that there seem to be โ€œcheatsโ€ and errors, but Youtube claims to be working to prevent it. This means that if you use your API regularly, your autostart views are probably not taken into account.

Note 2: The above note is just an official Youtube expression. Who knows what is really going on. Some people (including you, OP) get mixed results.

In the bottom line, do not count on it (pun intended).

Short answer: NO

I found this white paper on this subject (however it does refer to the Custom Gadget Design Guide )

Rule of thumb:
Each time a user initiates playback using the playerโ€™s built-in controls, that playback should be counted. Using the API method to play videos is not counted. BUT, you can use cueVideoById, and then the user clicks on the built-in built-in play button, and he will take it.

Submissions will NOT be considered if:
The user initiates playback using an API method such as playVideo or loadVideoById Auto-play video through the auto-play option

You can try adding the attribute "enablejsapi = 1". This will increase the number of views on youtube.com.
