From the UML sheet of special objects (left toolbar, central palette, use the drop-down list to select "UML"), select the UML object object, 
, and then place the object on the chart.
Next, from the same UML sheet, select the lifeline object, 
and place it on the chart. Then attach the top-most lifeline handle to the UML object placed in the last step.
Use a UML message object, 
to connect one line of life to another.
Right-click on the life cycle to adjust the lifetime of an object, or add or remove connection points.
