How can I generate an API key for Baidu China for a website repository locator?

Question

Our developers asked me to give them an API key for Baidu cards so that they can configure our storage locator on the site, and I'm not quite sure how to do this.

I tried to create an account on Baidu, but he asked for a mobile phone number in China. Do I have to get one of them before I get the key? And how easy is it to decide how to get the key when I have an account?

Can anyone advise a better way to fix this?

Update 2016: it is now possible to use non-Chinese phone numbers to create Baidu accounts, see this page .

After you log into Baidu, you need to find the LBS cloud (on-premises services) and go to the control center:

There you click "Create a new application / key" 创建 应用 (0/20) (orange button). In the popup you give it a name, and then in your case, probably select "for server". The following list of checkboxes is that you want a BLOCK for your key. If you want to access everything, then check NOTHING (it took me a while to figure this out, I always ticked everything ...)

For server keys, you can choose a whitelist for IP addresses for users, you must enter the addresses of your servers. I'm not sure about the other (sn) option.

When you click "Confirm", a new key should appear in the table, copy and use it.

Here's an easier answer than purgatory:

• If you cannot read Chinese, install the Google Translate extension in Chrome (translate.google.com cannot translate HTTPS pages). On each new page, you need to click the extension on the toolbar and select "TRANSLATE THIS PAGE".
• Create an account at http://passport.baidu.com . You will need a valid email address and password.
• Set up your developer account at http://developer.baidu.com/user/reg . You will need to confirm the mobile phone number by entering the code sent by SMS. For this, Google Voice worked. The format for US numbers is "(1) 760-123-4567". You only have 60 seconds to enter a 6-digit code.
• Go to http://lbsyun.baidu.com/apiconsole/key .
• Click the "I Agree" button.
• Select Browser as the application type.
• Enter * in the Refer whitelist (if you do not want to allow certain domains to use the API)

What is it. You will receive the key "Access application (AK)".
