WordPress Custom Post Types for Parent / Child Relationships

I am creating a website for an art gallery using WordPress. For some materials, I use custom post types.

I have 4, Artists, Exhibitions, Available Works and Artist News. I need the user-defined type of message "Artist" to act as a parent, and the remaining 3 as a child, and at the forefront I need to have a menu on the page "Artists", for example:

Joe Bloe (Artist)

  • Artist News
  • Jobs available
  • Exhibitions

What I need to do, but I canโ€™t figure out how to set it up so that I can select Contractor as a parent for 1 of 3 child custom post types.

I know that if I add โ€œattributesโ€ to the support line in the functions.php file when I register a custom post type and also set the hierarchical value โ€œtrueโ€ as the parent field, but this will only allow me to select another post from this type .

Is it possible to select a parent for a custom message from another custom message type, and if so, how to configure it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
