Genymotion emulator shows a black screen

I installed the genymotion emulator in the default folder for drive c, and from eclipse I also installed this plugin. I can run the virtual emulator box or virtual eclipse genymotion icon, but the emulator only shows a black screen, and I cannot start the android project. Can someone please help me, why did this happen? I also followed the FAQ section from the genymotion website.

For me, the problem was that I turned off dynamic GPU switching. I have a program for Mac OS X called "gfxCardStatus", and I had it in the "Integrated Only" setting - so it only worked on my built-in graphics card. Going to the "Dynamic Switching" option fixed it for me, which allowed Genymotion to also use a discrete card.

I have no experience with the GenyMotion emulator, but with the emulators provided by Google, they sometimes just show a black screen and application. This is usually fixed by selecting the virtual device emulator option, which tells the emulator to use the host GPU.

In the Goggle AVD setup, you will find this by creating a new device or editing an existing one, and find the "Emulator Settings" prompt. Check the box next to "Use master GPU."

IPv6 was disabled for me (setting empty IPv6 fields in global settings / only network / host / vboxnet1), the only thing that worked.

You need to activate the camera. This is easy to do by pressing Ctrl + 3 (or by clicking the camera icon in the menu on the right) and switch from โ€œtoโ€ to โ€œonโ€. By default, a dummy camera is selected both in front and behind, but you can replace them with a web camera by selecting it from the drop-down lists.
