Git color code for contributor page

I was wondering what these colors mean, green and red! Also, what is "++" other than green for?

Before voting for this question, follow this link. What are the green and red gems next to Github Gist Revisions? There, it seems that green means removal and red color to add! Although I admit that it looks contradictory. That is why I ask you to be sure. Thanks.

This indicates how many lines of code have been changed in this user's commits.

In this case, the user added 2459 and deleted 180 lines of code in 4 commits.

Note. GitHub treats line changes as delete and add:

- "Orginal Text" + "Orginal 2 Text"

The result will be 1 ++ / 1-- !

They mean added lines and deleted lines respectively. Tools ++ added; the tool is deleted.
