How to play local video using Swift?

I have a short mp4 video file that I have added to my current Xcode6 beta project.

I want to play the video in my application.

After searching for a watch, I cannot find anything useful. Is there a way to accomplish this with Swift or do you need to use Objective-C? Can I point in the right direction? I cannot be the only one who is interested.

Of course you can use Swift!

1. Adding a video file

Add a video (call him video.m4v ) in your Xcode project

2. Checking your video in a folder

Open Project Navigator cmd + 1

Then select your project root > your Target > Build Phases > Copy Bundle Resources .

Your video MUST be here. If this is not the case, you must add it using the plus button

U can set up AVPlayer differently by opening up for you the full screen settings of your video player

Swift 2.3

  • Create a subclass of the UIView class to play the video (basically, you can use any UIView object and only AVPlayerLayer needed). I tune in this way because it is much clearer for me)
