How to install WordPress in a subdomain?

I currently have WordPress installed in a subfolder of my current site ( example.com/wordpress ). How to make wordpress accessible from a subdomain?

those. I would like wordpress to be accessible from this address: wordpress.example.com , and that all links, posts and pages will work flawlessly, for example. wordpress.example.com/my-wp-post/

If it matters which host it is with, I ask specifically about 1 & 1.

thanks

I'm not a big fan of video tutorials, but I used this one to successfully set up a new subdomain and install wordpress.

Below is an overview of the process.

  • Using cpanel to create a subdomain
  • Download the latest version of wordpress to your local drive.
  • Upload to a subdomain folder on your host
  • Extract the files and move them to the subdomain folder
  • Use cpanel SQL Wizard to create a new database
  • Record username, db name and db password
  • Copy wp-config-sample.php in wp-config.php to the subdomain folder
  • Modify wp-config.php to add username, db name and db password
  • Open the URL β€œyour-subdomain.your-domain.com/wp-admin/install.php"
  • Fill in the form fields and click "Install Wordpress"

After creating the subdomain, I use WP clone to create and install a backup of my site in the new subdomain. The clone site allows me to check for updates before posting them on my public site.

I hope the OP resolves this issue, but it may be useful to others.

I think you have 2 options.

1) Manually:

Copy the Wordpress installation from a subfolder of the primary domain to the subdomain folder. Using the database editing tool (of your choice), go to the wp_options table and change the value of option_value for option_name 'siteurl' and 'home'.

You may have several other parameters that need editing, but they are most often not related to plugins.

2) A little better:

Create a new wordpress installation in your subdomain. Copy your plugins, themes and upload to it. Then install the wp-migrate-db-pro plugin from https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-migrate-db-pro/ Use this plugin to copy the database from the installation of the subfolder to the installation of the subdomain. This plugin will globally search and replace the URL- addresses and folders for you.

I have been using this plugin for a while ... and it saves me hours and hours of work.

Get your unique URL or subdomain or wherever you want wordpress to work on your host provider.

 wordpress.example.com coolurl.cooltimes.com

Download Wordpress to this root. /

Or define a custom folder for it;

 wordpress.example.com/partywp/

NOTE If you are looking for a free (without hosting, although less convenient for a website) wordpress with a similar URL, use the wordpress.com version and you don’t need to do anything.

http://wordpress.com/ differs from http://wordpress.org/

Wordpress.com is like a google blogger, and you just create an account and they give you the URL and free blogging area with small templates. You can migrate your free wordpress.com to custom wordpress.org - if you want to use the Wordpress hosting naming convention, refer to wordpress.

Added:

If you change the location from the original installation; to another path or location. Then you must remove Wordpress, which is located somewhere else or earlier, and reinstall where you want it to live, in order to avoid any integrity or errors, etc.

So, if now it should be: wordpress.example.com - work with your host provider (I hope not godaddy) to find the root in this domain and reinstall the new fresh version, and you should be fine. If you have other problems with DNS, try to talk more clearly about your question.
