LIBAV - avprobe

Coming from linux background. I'm just wondering what is the best way to install avprobe on OSX?

I tried installing libav: http://libav.org/download.html , but that seems like using avconf. I have a script that was written by someone else that depends on running avprobe directly.

Google really does not help. I need to be able to run avprobe directly.

brew install libav will provide you avconv and avprobe .

I think you downloaded the wrong thing. Libav is intended for use in software and does not actually have standalone executable files. A related project with libav (related to the fact that they are being deployed some time ago) is ffmpeg.

The package you want is ffmpeg, avprobe comes with it.
