Unable to install specific fonts in Interface Builder Xcode 6

I am trying to select certain fonts (American Typewriter, Arial) as custom fonts for a simple UILabel in a storyboard, but this does not work in Xcode6. It just goes back to the previously selected font. I tested the behavior on two systems. Is there anything specific about these fonts that won't let him choose, or is there something that needs to be "turned on" / installed for this?

This was also confusing. Here is what I had to do to get around this.

  • In the attributes of the text box, select "Attributed" from the text to fall.
  • Select all the text that appears on the right of the Font text box. This should be the text you want to display.
  • Right-click the selection and select "Font> Show Fonts" from the context menu. This should bring up the font selection dialog.
  • Select your preferred font.
  • Close the font dialog.

Perhaps this is intentional, as you can use different parts of the attribute text to use different fonts. In either case, select a font in the Font text box to apply style to the entire text area.
