YouTube Data API: daily requests went from 2.7 million to 43 million in one day

I began to see that the 404 daily quota reached surprise, so I went to the API console to check the logs. What I found there was only today, I received 43 million requests from my API key, while the number of average daily requests was about 2.5 million. Does this mean that someone is doing something evil with my API key? How can I research the problem?

Note. I am using youtube API key in chrome extension

This seems like a serious mistake. The same problem here is the use of quotas, similar to crazy since September 3, and requests now cost WAY more than status documentation .

Someone reported this as a defect in their bug tracking system. I suggest that everyone who is injured go there and cause a defect to draw attention to it:
