On iOS 8, ALAssetsLibrary doesn’t display all “Saved Photos,” but only “Recently Added.”

In my applications, I always used the photopicker-ios library to display a selection of photos / videos. It has several unique features that the Apple UIImagePickerController implementation did not find.

Uses ALAssetsLibrary and, in particular, ALAssetsGroupSavedPhotos , which until iOS 7 correctly displays all saved photos (and videos) on the device. However, with iOS 8, the Saved Photos album was replaced with Recently Added, which shows only photos and videos taken in the last 30 days.

To my knowledge, this new restriction is not documented. Do we have a confirmation? At the same time, can we make some kind of decision?

The problem is no longer present in iOS 8.0.2. Therefore, it was a bug in iOS 8.0.

UPDATE: This assumption is supported by a list of changes :

Addresses an issue that prevented some applications from accessing photos from the Photo Library
